Nyquist, Arild
Arild Nyquist (1937-2004) made his literary debut in 1963 with the childhood novel RINGER I ET SOMMERVANN. He was educated as a teacher of Arts, and worked as one until 1976, when he devoted all his time to art. He worked as an author, musician, painter and performer with readings of his own books. One of Norway’s most prolific and versatile writers, Nyquist published more than fifty books; poetry, short stories, picture books, fairy tales, biographies, novels and children’s books.
He was a controversial poet, who was never afraid to experiment with form and content. In 1972, his poetry collection NÅ ER DET JUL IGJEN! set off a public debate about " trash poetry". The widely popular poet died shortly before Christmas in 2004.
