Stubhaug, Arild
Arild Stubhaug (b. 1948) holds a cand. mag. degree in mathematics, literature and the history of religion. He made his debut as a writer in 1970, and since then he has produced a number of literary works, mainly collections of poetry. In 1996 he wrote Et foranskutt lyn. Niels henrik Abel og hans tid, which won him the prestigious brage prize. He has wlso won acclaim for his biography of another great Norwegian mathematician, Sophus Lie. In 2002 he was made Doctor Philosophiae Honoris Causa by the University of Oslo for his books about mathematicians. He is presently working on a biography about the Swedish mathematician Mittag-Leffler.
