Wamwere, Koigi wa

The author of five books, Koigi wa Wamwere has for years fought tirelessly for democracy and political influence in his native Kenya. A member of parliament from 1979 to 1982, he has spent almost thirteen years in Kenyan prisons and internment camps on political grounds and as a prisoner of conscience. Resident in Norway as a refugee since 1986, in 1997 he again stood for parliament in Kenya, but without success.
