The First Man to Pee on the Moon
Eriksen, Endre Lund & Kove, Torill: Førstemann som pissa på månenThe spaceship Apollo 11 is headed for the moon. On board are three men who all hate each other’s guts: Buzz, Michael and Neil.
Buzz is mad as hell. The first man out was supposed to be HIM. But Houston has decided to let Neil go first instead. Michael is suspiciously happy. Even though he will only be sitting in the spaceship that will orbit around the moon. Is he up to something? And Neil, who appears to be such a nice guy, keeps poring over the check list. So many things can go wrong.
21st July 1969 Neil Armstrong became the first man to walk on the moon. A little later Buzz Aldrin shuffled out of the space ship.
40 years after the first moon landing, Endre Lund Eriksen offers his own humorous version of what REALLY happened. The book is illustrated by Torill Kove, a Norwegian-Canadian animator, illustrator and childrens’ book writer who won an Oscar for her animated short THE DANISH POET.
Praise for The First Man to Pee on the Moon:
"While Endre Lund Eriksen has written a very funny, but also serious text, Torill Kove's illustrations are lively and filled with details, complementing what is not conveyed in the text. (...) She [Torill Kove] and Endre "Pittbull-Terje" Lund Eriksen are both one of a kind. Together they are superior"
(Dagsavisen)
"a wonderful read and a just as wonderful visual experience (...) While Kove's illustrations on the whole lean towards the exaggerated and humouristic, the basis of Lund Eriksen's text is a certain earnestness. Not that it's not funny, it's sometimes terribly funny. However, it is rooted in something serious that not only suits the story, but the illustrations as well. Or vice versa. (...) Endre Lund Eriksen is one of our finest writers of literature for children and young adults, and Torill Kove is definately one of our finest illustrators. What more can you ask for?"
