Stella

Lindboe, Karin Kinge: Stella

Benny lives with her grandfather, Torvald. Torvald says that he will always look after her. Benny often feels that it is she who must look after him, even if he is a grown-up lawyer with a good sense of logic. Stella is Benny’s best friend. Both are fifteen, with plaits the same length, and their hearts beating to the same rhythm. But one day Stella does not come to school. She does not send any texts, and does not answer her mobile. Benny is shattered when she hears that Stella is seriously ill. But she cannot give up. Not when it comes to Stella. Not even when Stella gets together with a boy from their class called Janne, who Benny cannot stand. In this way, Benny experiences a double loss; not only is her friend going to die, she also has to share their friendship with someone else during the short time they have left. Benny suffers from painful jealousy in the middle of her sorrow.

Once again, Karin Kinge Lindboe has created people and an environment that readers can believe in and visualise. This book is a truly gripping and engagingly told story about friendship, love, life and death.

Praise for "Stella":

"POWERFUL AND OF GREAT SUBSTANCE. The novel "Stella" deals with the big things in life. Karin Kinge Lindboe draws the reader right into Benny’s universe. The characters are complex, but at the same time easy to relate to. They are lovable. The relationships are warm and significant... Karin Kinge Lindboe describes growing up, friendship, love and family relationships with both seriousness and tough humour." (Nordstrands Blad)
