The City under the City
Osmundsen, Mari: Byen under Byen
One day a little boy, Flisa, finds a rat. He is not very happy at home, and to keep the rat he decides to run away - which he does, down a shaft, to end up beneath the city. Down there it is rather dark and eerie, but what with treasure, skeletons and crackling campfires, there is also a lot of fun to be had. He meets robbers with hearts of gold and two eccentric old aunts.
Mari Osmundsen has produced a wonderfully imaginative fable which will both appeal to its young readers' sense of the absurd and arouse their sympathy for the bedraggled central character. The book is illustrated by Trond Bredesen.
