The Arcanus Papers
Wilken, Alexander: Arcanus-papireneA gangster boss, two professors and several homeless people disappear without a trace from different places around the world. They have all been kidnapped by the secret organisation Continuatio Vitae, who has built up a powerful fortress with a private army in a remote area of an unnamed country in the former Eastern bloc. The kidnapped people are to be operated on by force.
The operations are the last in a series of medical experiments aiming to find a way to prolong life. A life expectancy of more than 200 years is to be made possible for those who are able to pay. “Life prolongation” is expected to become a billion dollar industry. But things get out of hand, and “life prolongation” has to give way to killings and military confrontation.
THE ARCANUS PAPERS is a fast-paced philosophical thriller, built up of letters, reports and accounts from the hands of the villains. In between the dramatic action, there are critical and philosophical reflections, all coming from an unexpected point of view. But, as one of the central characters says: An evil man can also make discoveries of significance – discoveries that good people will refuse to see or accept.
