Headstrong

Næss, Kristine: Stridig

Headstrong is a collection of stories in which different portraits emerge. The main recurring character is Rita, who was also the main character in Kristine Næss's previous book Rita Becomes an Author. The different texts are independent stories, playful and challenging in form, in ways that will at times bring the text closer to other genres such as drama and essay. The book contemplates and discusses writing and thinking, women and men, politics and literature, sexuality and thought, and includes authors such as Charlotte Brontë, Jean Rhys, Virginia Woolf and Sarah Kane in its universe. Headstrong is precicely what its title implies; a stubborn, obstinate and polemic book.

Praise for Headstrong:

"... texts that open up and close interchangeably in a tremendously stimulating dynamic"
(Aftenposten)

"Stories that take a hold of you ... Reading Kristine Næss' latest book Headstrong fills me with praise"
(Vinduet)

”Lyrical, fragmented stories about time, existence and presence, with a beautiful sincerity…tender and challenging, vulnerable and obstinate in its beautiful prose and poetry”
(Dagsavisen)
