The Fugitive - Aksel Sandemose. A biography

Aksel Sandemose (1899-1965) was the Dane who became one of the most considerable figures in Norwegian literature in the 1900s. He is, among other things, the man who formulated the renowned Janteloven in the novel En flyktning krysser sine spor. A number of biographies have been written about this reputable author.

Now a book has come out from one who has lived closest to him: the writer's youngest son, philosopher Jørgen Sandemose. He understands his father's writings as well as any literary researcher. His book includes new historical and biographical facts, but also a new reading of Sandemose's collected works. Aksel Sandemose's literary projects appear to, among other things, conceal homosexual and pedophile themes. Aksel Sandemose writes about, not to mention paraphrases, the past, and he flees from it, from childhood and unresolved conflicts deep in his personality.This is a learned, wise and exciting book.
