Before the Party and After

Bøge, Kari: Til og fra fest

Espen founds himself at a dead end, not only as a musician. A promise of money, a meeting with a former girlfriend and an invitation to a birthday party out of town make him want to start living again. Things seem to be looking up for him. But then an unexpected act of revenge combined with bad judgment produce consequences. His way back doesn’t turn out as expected.

This is a novel about a man who wants to be loved and noticed and a novel which accurately and without mercy reveals the mechanisms between people who don’t have each other’s best interest at heart.

Suspenseful, eerie and with surprising story twists, BEFORE THE PARTY AND AFTER stands out in Kari Bøge’s work while still retaining the writer’s trademark: a unique ability to see through and expose her characters.
