This is a historical novel about the Norwegian mining industry; about Løkken Factory, Orkla mines, and Orkla industries, written in connection to Løkken Factory's 350th anniversary. We follow the mine's history from the day Skredder-Lars found the quarry until present post-industrial Norway, when a descendant of Skredder-Lars turns up as a well-educated employee at today's Orkla. Toril Brekke invents a dramatic plot wich takes its starting point among farmers and poor land tenants whose lives are depending on the mining at Løkken. This is a broadly constructed family saga with tension, murder, drama and love, set against a backdrop of significant national events.
