In this novel, we follow Fanny on her way from California's coast to the desert west of Sierra Nevada in the end of the 1980s. In a state of restless loneliness, the main character finds herself torn between the two half brothers Sam and John. And along her way, in a sentimental and brutal daydream, Fanny meets a variety of characters from the very core of Reagan's USA.
