June, September, October, May
Gjeitanger, Anne: Juni, september, oktober, maiTale has settled down outside the Northern town Bodø with Thomas and his young son. She is working on her paintings, preparing her first exhibition. One day, she walks into the bookstore and picks up a book displaying Ben’s paintings. She was once in a relationship with Ben, but they no longer speak. She resumes contact with Ben, and from that moment on Tale is in motion; entering a process with an ending unknown to her. Simultaneously, she starts writing a diary, revealing an unfamiliar voice, distinctively different from her own.
In a beautiful, sensitive and reflective prose, this novel questions whether we can learn to know ourselves through our relationships with others.
Praise for June, September, October, May:
”Finely tuned novel about spirituality and relations … Gjeitanger imparts Tale’s emotional life in a reflecting manner and with a good language. The novel is built with a finely tuned suspense.”
(Nationen)
”Gjeitanger’s language is quiet, slow and nuanced, with the colourful eye of a pictorial artist for light and landscape.”
