Karlsen, Ero: Bodø

Ståle is the narrator and main character in this novel. He is visiting his home town, where he runs into friends he hasn't seen in years. Why did he leave town, without telling anyone? Seeing his home town and friends brings back memories; and the story of the relationship between Ståle and Linn slowly unfolds. But who was Linn, really? In a tight and controlled prose, Ståle's increasing rage and desperation are projected so that these feelings can be recognised beneath an apparently controlled facade.

Praise for Bodø:

” ... outstandingly well written, the dialogue is real and convincing and the novel is bubbling with implicit meaning”
(Dagsavisen)

“There are plenty of party-descriptions in literature, but not all of them are a feast to read. This one is… Karlsen writes with a keen eye and an acute sense of sound… All over an impressive and very powerful first novel. Yes, we will probably hear more from this great talent”
(Stavanger Aftenblad)

“Elegantly constructed”
(Nordlys)

“Pungent and well-observed first novel…It is impressive how Karlsen makes the main character Ståle become gradually more distinct, without describing him directly… Ero Karlsen has written a good novel filled with a lot of sinister dissonance”
(Adresseavisen)

“Ero Karlsen knows how to write” (Fædrelandsvennen)
