D-01968
Nyrønning, Sverre M.: D-01968
Georg Norden is a 58 year old publisher. After his mother dies, Georg travels to Germany in search of his roots and the truth about his earliest childhood years. The search leads him to the village Niemtsch in the south-eastern part of Germany, where he spent the first three years of his life. During the Second World War his mother married a German soldier, but in 1948 she escaped and brought her son back to Norway.
In his luggage he is carrying a manuscript written by a previous child soldier, a refugee that insists to write detailed descriptions of his past as a torturer and executioner, which Georg Norden reacts to with fear and scepticism.
D-01968 is a novel about secrecy, lies and silence, and about how troublesome it can be to lead a truthful life.
