Happy Times
Renberg, Tore: En god tidIn the year 1926 the writer Tore Renberg is hard at work writing his futuristic novel Happy Times. The story takes place in Oslo 70 years into the future. The optimistic and rather over enthusiastic author is imagining nothing less than a glowing future, where a lucky fusion of love for one’s neighbour and advanced technology forms the base of the zeitgeist. Into these happy times he inserts the perfectly happy love story between a girl from Berlin and a boy from Oslo, Erika and Johannes. Through their love story Renberg prophesies a rather different 1990s than what we, the readers, lived through.
