Field rations
Sæveraas, Torgeir E.: StridsrasjonerTroop 3, consisting of young Norwegian soldiers, is on a foreign mission in the near future. Their intertwined stories give the reader an insight into problems concerning sending soldiers abroad, the nature of war, and how a young person is affected by brutal acts of war. The soldiers in troop 3 execute orders but are affected both by the system they belong to and the drama they have to face. The question is, will they ever be the same again?
Praise for Field rations:
"A successful literary debut of current interest (...) In under 200 pages, as compact and rationed as the title's 'field rations', [Sæveraas] admirably manages to portray a troop of 30 people, letting each member be an individual and visible through his actions, thoughts and reactions. (...) Field rations is an impressing debut, both in its technique and writing."
(Stavanger Aftenblad)
“Sæveraas writes efficiently and with good timing, and obviously knows both military jargon and the rough tone between the boys”
