Everything Will Work Out in the end, but where is the end?

Syvertsen, Håvard: Det skal nok gå alt sammen, men hvor hen?

This is a reflective novel where the plot unfolds within the main character’s head. He is a middle-aged author who finds himself in Paris, where he has come to see one of van Gogh’s self-portraits. Something in the picture speaks intensely to him, but he cannot understand what it is. And the city itself also becomes a picture to him, but of what? And why is he unable to write? Is it quite simply because he has become an author?

The journey and the restless search opens up for a long line of questions to which the main character cannot find any answers; questions about identity, class belonging and experiences, and about how these things are related to the creation of literature.
