Catholic Propaganda

Undset, Sigrid: Katholsk propaganda

A collection of essays, entitled Katholsk propaganda, was tough on the Protestants and the Norwegian state church, and even more on agnostics and free-thinkers. But at the time, converting to Catholicism was a brave act. She had come to realize, she said, that there was something objective outside of herself. That could only be God. And there was only one Church — the one that Christ Himself founded. In newspaper articles, she attacked the state church and its theologians eloquently and ironically. "Your article reads like a Franciscan sermon," she once remarked to a fellow writer. That was not a compliment.
