On Monday Morning the Dead are Lined Up

Tronstad, Tyra Teodora: Mandag morgen står de døde i kø

Several of the poems in this debut collection circle around death and the rituals of grief. No sad violins, tissues and pain about the unknown that might come after, but the inevitable physical aspect of death – the corpse that has to be shaved and practically stuffed into the casket, and those who do this work and cannot partake in the grief. Those who drive home after work to make meatballs with gravy for the kids.

These are poems that deals with the palpable parts of death and the inconceivable parts of life, which in all its vulnerability and ordinariness appear beautiful and maybe even magic.

Praise for On Monday Morning the Dead are Lined Up:

”Her poems are direct and unsentimental; they don’t wrap death into sensitive turns of phrases. This surprising honesty is the strength of the poems. Verses like these emit sparks in the autumn dark…”
