While the Higgs Boson Gnaws
Wardenær, Torild: Mens Higgsbosonet gnagerThe Higgs Boson is an elementary particle named after the physicist Peter Higgs. The particle is predicted to exist, but has yet to be observed. When this happens, it will explain why elementary particles have mass. It is, therefore, a premise for the material world.
There is fascinating variety in Wardenær’s new poetry collection, between the material and the metaphysical, between what we can understand, and what can only be guessed. This variation implies uncertainty and risk, but also leads to bold introspection.
“Psi” (2007) was nominated for the Brage Prize, and parts of this collection are a continuation of its examination of linguistic possibilities.

Praise for While the Higgs Boson Gnaws:
“But sometimes (…) I run into poetry, and sections of poems of great beauty and originality, that force me to do more than use my encyclopedia: they force me to see things anew, to see connections I hadn’t noticed before. (…) These aren’t small feats, they are highlights in Norwegian contemporary poetry.”
