Med egne ord is about Mullah Krekar's life and faith. Through his story, we are given an insight into the Iraqi Kurds fight for independence - a battle that is a part of a larger struggle that has gone on for hundreds of years in Turkey, Iraq and Iran. We also get an understanding of the complicated circumstances in Iraqi Kurdistan and the rivalry between the different political factions. Mullah Krekar himself has actively participated - also after his family moved to Norway - both in Kurdish politics and the Islamic movement. When he was imprisoned in the Netherlands in the autumn of 2002, his story became of enormous interest to the public. In this book he gives us a complete description of how he comprehends the Krekar case - and how Norwegian media and authorities have handled it.
