Nickel, Iron and Blood

Jacobsen, Alf R: Nikkel, jern og blod

Nickel, Iron and Blood is a new, sensational book from Alf. R. Jacobsen, written in the same compact and engaging style as his previous depictions of the drama in the northernmost provinces during the Second World War. This time the author tells us how the battle at the Northern cap of Norway was a fight to gain control over strategically important raw materials and shipping lines - not to mention the very important nickel deposits. He also describes the breakdown of the German High Sea Fleets in the northernmost parts of the Norwegian fjords as well as the Laplander army’ s defeat. This book is based on eyewitness accounts and documents that have never previously been published.

Nickel, Iron and Blood is the last and summing up book in Alf R. Jacobsens description of the Second World War's development in the northernmost areas. Previous books are Scharnhorst (2001), Banesår (2003), Til siste slutt (2004) and Rød August (2005).
