What is the Body?

In this book the author explains about the conditions under which the human body has existed within the context of European values – from being looked upon as a prison for the soul and a seat of sin and shame, to becoming a modern project in which the media-invented “ideal body” is one of our most shining symbols of success. This book contributes to an understanding of the body both as a biological organism, as subjective experience, and as the product and expression of a particular culture.
