Becoming your own friend

Øverenget, Einar: Å bli sin egen venn

Do unto yourself as you would have others do unto you. This, coined by the author 'The additional Golden Rule', forms the basis for this book, which is about accepting oneself as a fully worthy human being, even if one does not always care for one’s own acts, or the impulses that come to one's mind.

We all wish to be healthy and happy, and when all is said and done, health and happiness are intrinsically linked to our own perception of ourselves. You have to be willing to treat yourself just as well as you treat your best friends – only then do you show yourself the respect that is needed to lead a good life. You may love yourself ever so deeply, but love is no guarantee for treating yourself well. If you train yourself into becoming your own friend, you will find yourself able to release very powerful life energy.
