Full title: Truth, Goodness, and Beauty. An introduction to Philosophy

This book gives a systematic introduction to philosophy. Its first part presents different views on knowledge, science, understanding and language. Under the notion of ‘Goodness’ the authors are dealing with various normative and ethical theories: whether or not man has a free will, and what the characteristics of the human self are. In its last part, on beauty, important aesthetic theories are presented and the relationship between arts, morals and human knowledge is discussed.

Breaking a long tradition of a chronological history of philosophy, themes from both historical contexts and contemporary life are used for introducing the reader to central philosophical themes, past and present. Awarded the prize for best idea for an academic book in 2003, "Truth, Goodness and Beauty" is a well-written introduction that inspires to philosophical thinking and humanistic education.
