The Aschehoug Prize is awarded Norwegian authors as an honorary prize regardless of what publisher they are affiliated with. Previous winners include Kjell Askildsen, Edvard Hoem, Espen Haavardsholm, Jan Kjærstad and Dag Solstad. Hanne Ørstavik is one of the most widely acclaimed contemporary authors in Norway, and her books have been translated into more than 15 languages.
