Fall
Bjørnstad, Ketil: Fall
Fall is a novel centred on the mental anguish of a man betrayed, the story of a seemingly successful person whose emotions run riot and who, in his desperation, oversteps perilous bounds.
For twelve years Erling Fall lived together with a sculptress and her twin daughters. He loved her dearly, devoting himself wholeheartedly to her and the children, so that, when she left him for a jazz guitarist, his sense of loss was overwhelming. Then he falls in love with a Chinese writer, Sophie Lee. They marry and settle in Paris, where Erling carves out a highly successful business career. Suddenly he begins to suspect that Sophie is cheating on him.
Praise for Fall:
"...razor-sharp observations from our modern welfare society that has become so light it is almost unbearable....top of the range black humour... This year’s best novel so far"
