Shameful Discourse. Graceland

Storholmen, Ingrid: Skamtalen. Graceland

Shameful Discourse. Graceland is a very different collection of poems – a revolt against and a rejection of " sanctioned" poetic constructions. This book of poems mutilates as it creates.

Storholmen radicalises poetic form with the use of literary mutations, sentences, dialogues and frenzied torrents of words, and the shame is dramatised as an emotion, a state and an object. This is shameless writing, mutilating itself, putting its own debasement on display with an intensity that sets itself on fire, thereby generating heat.
