Brothers

Fjeldstad, Jan: Brødre

Brothers contains seven short stories by a new author with a distinctive, sterling expression. Fjeldstad manages to convert everyday talk into a literary language; language and thematic complement each other. The short stories may be about people who feel desperation and emptiness, who struggle to manage what they think the surroundings expect from them. Fjeldstad gets his material from recognisable situations – hung over on the bus on the way to work, a military drill, or a record collector who has to sell off to make rent.

Praise for Brothers:

”Hard boiled people and environments, recognisable situations from rural areas and cities and a scarce and raw style are all ingredients in the collection. Fjeldstad is a confident author right from his debut”
