Qvale, Per

Per Qvale works as a literary translator. He has translated nearly a hundred books, both fiction and non-fiction, into Norwegian – from English, German and Swedish, from novels by John Irving, John Fowles and Kurt Tucholsky to Strindberg’s plays and Shakespeare’s sonnets. He is former President of the Norwegian Association of Literary Translators and former Chairman of the Translator’s Literary Council. In 2002 he received the Norwegian Book Club’s Prize for his translation of Thomas Mann’s The Magic Mountain ( Trolldomsfjellet).
