After leaving a war-ravaged Germany behind, the musicians Renate and Theodor Ungermann come to Bergen at an unfavourable time: In 1952. With Miss Dreyer’s school of music as a starting point, he wants to create a new music for a new world in Bergen, whilst she looks forward to the day when they shall return. A novel about the problems of exile and the price of modern times; of the world of music and of the real world.
