The Unfinished Picture
Køltzow, Liv: Det avbrutte bildet
The plot in Liv Køltzow's new novel centres on Hanna, a prolific author who has just ended a twelve-year –long marriage and rented an artist"s studio. She is determined to continue writing and also toys with the idea of starting to paint. But instead of the tranquillity she seeks, she finds herself drawn willy-nilly into other people’s lives. The painter in a neighbouring studio mysteriously disappears, as does a young woman. Hanna herself embarks upon a new love affair. Torn between an array of fascinating possibilities, between loneliness and human intimacy, between pictures, language and reality, she finally makes her choice.
"Det avbrutte bildet "is an unusually beautiful and open book, a book capable of many interpretations. In the guise of a novel about art, Liv Køltzow has many cogent things to say about the state of modern society.
