Ketil Bjørnstad Wins French Readers' Award
Monday 06 October 2008Ketil Bjørnstad’s novel To Music has been awarded the French Prix des Lecteurs 2008, beating Paul Auster, Truman Capote and Susanna Clarke as well as domestic favourites Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt, Tatiana de Rosnay and Sylvie Testud.
Every month throughout the previous year, a large jury of readers from all over France has read four books, choosing one finalist from each month. When twelve finalists have been selected, the jury finally decides on the winner by voting.
Former winners of the prize include Carlos Ruis Zafon, Isabel Allende and Amémlie Nothomb.
